First Installation
Introduction
For a new installation, you may choose between a stand-alone or an application server installation. Pros
and cons are briefly discussed hereafter with links to the corresponding step-by-step guides.
Stand-alone Installation
If you intend to use the Cubus applications on an isolated workstation or on a small number of
workstations, we recommend a stand-alone installation of the software.
-
Pros: straightforward installation procedure; you don't need to deal with file sharing configurations.
-
Cons: you need to install the software on each workstation; you will later have to install the
updates on each workstation.

Application Server Installation
If you intend to use the Cubus applications on a large number of workstations and if your
organisation already has a dedicated file server, then a centralised installation of the software
may be the best option.
-
Pros: you need to install the software on the server only; after initial setup,
no further configuration is needed on the clients, since updates are solely
installed on the server.
-
Cons: you need to setup and manage a network file sharing.
