Update of an Application Server Installation

Introduction

This document is a step-by-step guide of how to perform an Internet update of the Cubus software installed on an application server.

The update procedure is made in two steps:

N.B.: The update requires no actions to be taken on the clients.

Requirements

Please check the special application server requirements before starting the update. Note that full write permission has to be granted recursively onto the main Cubus folder located on the application server.

The update procedure has to be executed on the designated UpdateHost. By default, the UpdateHost is set to the application server, but it can be assigned to any client using the CubusNetworkManager utility.

The UpdateHost must have aproper access to the Internet.

A. Download the Update and Prepare the Installation

N.B.: Administrator privileges are necessary!

  1. On the UpdateHost, start the CubusManager.
  2. Wait until the availability of internet updates has been checked.
  3. Click [Download now].

  4. Wait until all components have been downloaded.
  5. Click [Install now].

  6. If UAC is enabled on your system, you may see a red message in the CubusManager:
    “Please allow execution of cSetup.exe (check Taskbar)!” and a shield on the task bar.

  7. Prepare the installation by defining a time frame and click [OK].

  8. Close the CubusManager and wait for the scheduled time frame.

B. Install the Update

N.B.: Administrator privileges are necessary!

  1. Make sure Cubus applications and utilities are not in use on any client in the network.
  2. On the UpdateHost, during the scheduled installation time frame, start the CubusManager.
  3. Click [Download now].

  5. If UAC is enabled on your system, you may see a red message in the CubusManager:
    “Please allow execution of cSetup.exe (check Taskbar)!” and a shield on the task bar.

  6. Click [Start installation].

  7. Close the CubusManager.

After a successfull installation of the update, the installation time frame blocking the use of the Cubus software on the network is closed automatically and the updated software is immediately available to all clients.
