FAQ, Service contracts, Generation 7, Question 12

We installed the Cubus software on a server and would like to prevent the internet update on the clients.

For an application server installation, the update procedure has to be executed on the designated „UpdateHost”, by default set to the „application server”. In the „CubusNetworkManager” utility, in the “Application Server” tabsheet, the „UpdateHost” can be assigned to any client.

Users on other workstations can still start the „CubusManager” utility to check if any update is available, but they can not proceed to an installation from their workstation.

It is further possible to prevent the automatic update notification by the „CubusManager” for all users. To set this, in the folder where the „cManager.exe” utility is installed, create a text file named „cManager.cfg” and add the line:

BLOCKNOTIFICATION=T

Note: If you block the notification, nobody will be be informed anymore. In this case it is recommended to registrate an eMail address for getting the information on this way.
